Challenge 73 Oh I Do like to be beside the Seaside and continuation of DT Call

Hi and welcome to our Seaside challenge.

Before we tell you what our challenge is, we are still having a DT call and if you think you could create up to two projects per month (although there is no pressure to come up with something for every challenge as we are a VERY laid back team), and comment on a percentage of the entries per challenge then please add DT after your name in your entry below. I am holding this open until we have enough new members to boost the team, so at this present time there is no closing date for the call. Please read the challenge criteria carefully as we had a few DT applicants last time around who had not really understood that we wanted a sport themed creation and they entered something that didn’t have such a theme to it. If you would like to apply for the team, but do not wish to enter our current challenge, then please drop me a line at ccmchallenges@gmail.com with a link to 3 of your favourite posts.

So onto our challenge, and as mentioned above it’s a seaside theme. We are hosted today by Yvonne and she would like a post card [6x4inches approx], showing a beach scene, and would like it to include some beach and the sea, for the background to the focal image. So as long as your creation is a postcard, is approx the right size and has a beach and sea background, anything else seaside related will be fine. You could even do a saucy postcard, or a scenic view as long as it meets the criteria. We look forward to seeing what your inventive minds can come up with.

We are sponsored for this challenge by DIGI DOODLE SHOP and they have on offer a $10 voucher for their store

ddssponsor_MainImage

Digi Doodle Shop is the results of a mother and daughter’s love for the arts and crafts. It was started a little over 3 years ago with a little more than 100 stamps, and has since then grown to almost 500 stamps. Joy (the mother of this team) designs realistic images, while Judy (aka/daughter) loves the “fun side of life”, and create images with a cartoon flair. Having these two complimenting styles have enabledDigi Doodle Shop to offer a wide variety of stamps.

It is a real honor and pleasure to sponsor this challenge, and we look forward to seeing all the amazing creations. We thank the design team for their incredible creations, and wish all the participants the very best of luck in this challenge.

Thank you so much for having us, and again the very best of luck to all of you.

Sincerely,

Judy and Joy

we are also sponsored by One Stop Card Crafts who are offering a £10 voucher to be spent in their store

Here is  what the team have created

Yvonne

Yvonne

'Wish You Were Here.' A Postcard from  Fredo and Gertie taking the rays and enjoying themselves. The images used are all stamps by various companies. The colouring is watercolours and distress markers.

Mynette

Mynette

I started by stamping my black images from Inkadinkado onto my white paper.  Then I water colored different shades of blue, sprayed the panel with pearl mist, heat dried it, then dry embossed it with a Tim Holtz folder.

Carole

I went for something completely different this week, and used Craft Artist to make my postcard, along with several photos I took when the sun was shining!! I am a beginner at this - so it wasn't without its issues!!

Josephine

Josephine

I used Photoshop Elements to make the background, adding a layered seashell image. The gorgeous image is from our sponsor - Digi Doodle Shop - and it's coloured with Promarkers.

Jackie

One of the things I love about crafting is that you can mix things up... in this case, I  used a photograph of a very nice beach, and then rubber stamped the boats and plants in the front.

Marie

Marie

I used the boat image from our sponsor Digi Doodle Shop,  Crafty Individuals stamps and DP printed onto acetate. This was my first attempt with a digi image .

If you would like to stop by the team's blogs I am sure they would be pleased to see your comments and if you want to know how something was done I am sure there will be more details on their own blogs.

Challenge 71 Olympic Spirit and Design Team Call

Well we're back! FINALLY
What a stressful experience moving is. Firstly my ISP accidentally cut off my broadband two weeks before my move and next I had to squish the contents of a two bedroomed house with dining room into a one bedroom bungalow. I am currently sleeping in a very untidy craft shop!

Anyhow enough of my woes.

Before we tell you what our challenge is, we are having a DT call and if you think you could create up to two projects per month (although there is no pressure to come up with something for every challenge as we are a VERY laid back team), and comment on a percentage of the entries per challenge then please add DT after your name in your entry below. I am holding this open until we have enough new members to boost the team, so at this present time there is no closing date for the call.

So onto our challenge

Our hostess Feebsy thought that with the UK hosting the Olympics in London that an Olympic theme would be a great challenge. Bearing in mind how small the UK is we are amazed to be third on the medal table. Apparently per head of population we actually have more medals than the two leaders! Anyhow congratulations to all our current medallists and good luck to the rest of Team GM and also for the paralympics at which my Daughter has a friend competing in the women's volleyball - go Jodi Hill!.

So our challenge this fortnight is a sporting theme.  Any sport will do but it would be brilliant if there were some sports that form part of the Olympic Games, either Summer or Winter. We look forward to seeing your sporting creations.

I have been drawing since a child and studied graphics at College many years ago, I now work as a Medical photographer part time but my love was always drawing. I started cardmaking about 4yrs ago when I bought my daughter a cardmaking kit which we did together, but I’m afraid I got the bug! My daughter preferred scrapbooking. I then started looking online at other blogs and this then became my passion and I loved sharing my cards with likeminded people.
I love stamping and loved finding images, but sometimes I could not find what I wanted so I started to draw myself.
This then has become my second addiction and I have never looked back, I love thinking of new images, and its just fabulous to see others take them and make them into beautiful works of art. Long may it continue!

So without further ado we are under starter's orders and we are off and

First out of the blocks is

I chose judo for the theme of my card. I used the "Karate Anya" digi from TGF and changed her into a judoka. I made a wordy background using judo terms and I tried to make the main background look like tatami mats

Hot on her heels and breathing steady we have
I made a set of ATCs using some postage stamps from the 1976 Montreal Olympics.  Of course I had to make 3 ATCs (Gold, Silver and Bronze).  I also made a little case to keep them in.

Currently in the Bronze medal position and puffing hard we have
I have made a postcard collage, the background is a scene from the opening ceremony. The other additions are from a CD or free images found on the internet.
(She just about has the British Summer down pat, lol)

Punching above her weight is

There is a girl from my hometown boxing for Ireland in the Olympics this year so that is about all of the Olympics that I will watch lol with this in mind I made a boxing themed card. For my card I have used a digi stamp from Just Inklined called "Rocky". All of my papers are from the Authentique Celebrate collection. I have made the sentiment on my computer.
(Personally I think it would be safer if Fiona remains at the back!)

Kicking her way desperately towards the front is

I used my Craft Robo and a template from Beanpole Books to create this Taekwondo themed card!! And of course, my trusty Spellbinders Edgeabilities.

Hoping that the the first ever women's football in the Olympics will prove a winner is
I used for my card a Marianne Design stamp "soccer Don" and Echo Park paper "note to self"

Spinning like a Top towards the finishing line is
I used an image from Dover Books that I got in one of their Sampler emails, coloured it with Promarkers, then used the triangular motif to cut and mat the image before mounting it and a hand-written sentiment onto an A5 card.

Trying desperately to emulate Wiggo and Sir Chris Hoy is
I used one of the lovely Lili of the Valley die cut sheets that I have had forever. My card is to honour our cyclists, although I'm not sure that the Olympic rules allow for canine passengers lol.

Sailing towards the line is and hoping for Gold like Ben Ainslee is

I struggled with the challenge this time round - who knew I had so little sporty stuff in my craft stash!?  This card was made using docrafts 1x12 paper, and some stamps from my stash.

Bringing up the rear should have been me, but they have yet to have the Chocolate Eating Challenge so it's over to you instead.
I think you will agree there are some fabulous ideas here to inspire you.

If you would like to stop by the team's blogs I am sure they would be pleased to see your comments and if you want to know how something was done I am sure there will be more details on their own blogs.
