New Team Members Introductions

Hi everyone. I hope you had a better Christmas and New Year that I had here at Twisted Towers. A bad back for Christmas and a chest infection for New Year!

I thought I would introduce our lovely new team members to you today instead of tomorrow, when our new challenge goes live.

Chanya 13

Hi!  My name is Agnieszka, my nickname is chanya13 and I live in Poland.  My husband and I have 4 cats and a dog.

I have been scrapbooking for 3 years now and I’m totally crazy about this hobby! My favorite things to make are cards, ATC’S and notebooks but most of all, I love to make multilayer cards.  I also like making exploding boxes and scrap book layouts.

I have my own style and I love to use flowers.  I sometimes make my own, either from paper or I crochet them.  I add butterflies, different media and lace of all kinds to my projects.  I have a weakness for purple and pink and use them quite a lot.  Promarkers are my favorite way to color images.  Vintage and romantic styles are my favorites and I make a card almost every day.

In my free time, I like gardening, rock climbing, hiking and traveling.  I also love photography.

Hi I'm Jac and I live in Dorset about 20 minutes from time the coast.  I work as a support worker for adults with learning disabilities and challenging behaviours.  When I'm not at work I can be found relaxing in my craft room.  I have been crafting for a number of years now and I love it, it's my relaxation at the end of a busy day (and more often if I get the chance!). 

I started with scrap booking and digi scrap booking and soon found myself in the wonderful world of card making and I like to try and get out of my comfort zone every now again with a different type of project.  I wouldn't say that I have a particular style apart from the fact that I'm a messy crafter and often only have a small space on my desk to actually work in!

Hi… I’m June, and married to Steve, a wonderful man who encourages and supports me and never complains about the many hours I spend in my craft room!

I live in the North East, between Durham and Newcastle and have been retired from the NHS for several years.

I have been crafting from an early age, my mother taught me to knit and then I discovered sewing, and, as an adult, I enrolled for evening classes at the local college for a two year course on cake decorating.

About ten years ago, on a visit to the Metro Centre, I was intrigued as to why a group of ladies, were intently looking at another two ladies making something in The Paper Mill Store. I stopped to watch and at the end of their demonstration I heard myself asking “do you do classes?” They did and that was that, my love and passion for card making. The two ladies in question were no other than Sheena Douglas and Mandy Lawson!

My name is Margaret Mifsud and I live Down under in Adelaide, South Australia.  I am married and have two grown-up sons and three almost grown-up Grandchildren.

I have been crafting in some form or another for most of my life and took up paper crafting about 10 years ago.  I absolutely love it!!  Mostly, I make cards but also make Mini Albums and do a little Art Journaling now and again.  Have also done some off the page projects as well.  I do love most styles of crafting but mainly do my own version of shabby chic and I do love a touch of grunge on my masculine projects.

I am a widow and live with my little Maltese, Max, in NW Georgia, USA.  I have been involved with some form of crafting most of my life.  I started with sewing, continued with cross-stitch, knitting, crocheting & painting.  Card making is my new passion since my daughter introduced me to it several years ago.  I look forward to getting to know all the team and working with everyone. 

I hope you will agree, we have some fabulous new teamies to inspire both us and you! Looking forward to seeing you all in our first challenge of 2017 from tomorrow.

#179 Christmas with a Twist

Before we launch into the final challenge of the year I am sad to say that we will be losing two team members from January. Ina, who is playing with us today, and Bec who has already left. Thank you ladies for such inspirational pieces and for being such fabulous members of the team. Myself and the rest of the team would like to wish you the very best for the future.

I will be introducing 5 lovely new team members in the New Year. I may post between this final post and the start of next year's posts which will be on 16th January, if I remember! Head like a sieve, brain turned to mush. If not, I shall introduce them in the first post for 2017.

Kim is hosting our final challenge of 2016. We would love to see your Christmas creations, but there is a twist which we would love you to play; we want to see your non traditional Christmas projects. Anything quirky and unusual and not typically thought of as Christmas would be fabulous please. You can play along with a normal Christmas creation if you prefer, but we hope that many of you will play the twist and inspire us with different ideas! It would be nice if you could tell us your twist.

As usual You can enter anything you fancy, it doesn't have to just be cards, as long as it meets the challenge, and doesn't exceed the 15 total challenges entered rule!

I have gone for a very non traditional colour combo for my 'twist'.

Father Christmas in blue? Seems like a twist to me! The image is from Stitchy Bear Stamps, and it's called Bah Humbug. I added the sentiment, coloured the image with Promarkers, shaded the background with Distress Ink.

I have used a Heartfelt Creations Stamp, lots of Glitter and A Spellbinders Die

I didn't have anything quirky so went for non traditional Christmas colours with colourful trees and touches of glitter.

This little Baby Fairy Bee image by Mo Manning is all decked out for Christmas. Now, I don't know about you, but I have never seen a Christmas bee! This was a fun and interesting challenge. I can't wait to see your designs. Merry Christmas!

"There is snow place like home for the holidays" is the sentiment on my card this week. The digital image is by Heart Digital stamps and the trees are part of a set of rubber stamps by Stampers Anonymous - Tim Holtz collection. I had fun layering the stamps and images and creating the snow scene.

My card is made with a Stampotique stamp called Tangled Enthusiasm by Daniel Torrente, and a sentiment from a Dylusions set of stamps. The twist is the colour scheme and also I went for a play on words as he is all 'twisted' up in the lights.

I decided to use the non traditional colour combination of blue and grey-brown using papers printed from the CD ROM once upon a Christmas.

I used an image I thought was a bit unusual for Christmas , yet festive and fun. My brown colour scheme, again a bit unusual. Merry Christmas to all!

You may think this looks familiar to another card I made earlier but I just couldn't resist making one using the Crazy Dog stamps by Tim Holtz especially as we have two mini Schnauzers so this is just perfect. Merry Christmas to you all, Angela x

I thought that a Yeti with Christmas lights would be the perfect image for a non traditional Christmas card. Merry Christmas to you, Maike ;o)

I chose a cheeky sheep for my twist on christmas card. The background was coloured with distress inks and the colouring was done with promarkers. The stamps were old ones from my stash - and due to my poor organisation I don't know the makers unfortunately.

 

This challenge will close on Christmas Day, but we won't be back with the Winners post or a new challenge until January 16th. So the team and I would like to take the opportunity of wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Peaceful and Prosperous New Year.

#178 Anything But a Card

Angela is hosting today. Our challenge is Anything But a Card. With Christmas rapidly approaching we feel sure that you will have created something as a decoration or a gift and would love you to share it with us.

And Lin is quite right, Christmas will be here before we know it. After much thought I decided to make gift bags and I'm here today to show you a sample of what I've made. The papers are my own Masterboards and the dies are Tim Holtz. Hope this will give you ideas too.

For my birthday last year, a friend gave me an Ikea box frame. I think it was a challenge of sorts - to see what I would do with it! Well, this is the result. I've prepared a background sheet using Distress Inks and a range of stamps, and added an array of hand-made flowers.

I made this stationery set as a gift for a friend.  The set consists of a folder to hold the stationery which consisted of stationery sheets, cards and envelopes.   I used several stamps from Stampin UP and Hero Arts

I have used a A Stamp from Dovecraft, also usedGo Kreate Dies and made it into Next Year Calender

I made a little gift box with a gift card or money holder to place inside it. The papers are from my stash but I think they were Stampin's Up's from a few years ago.

I decided to make something for myself as I am always jotting things down on a note book so made a cover for a store bought one. Used lots of inks pastes & stencils. Adding My Notes to finish it off.

I made some Christmas crackers using a die from Tonic Studios and decorated them with poinsettias made using dies from Tattered Lace.

I have used a selection of dies, stamps, embossing folders and patterned papers to create some Christmas Ornaments.

I made a candle for this challenge using Ornamental Pine by Stampin Up.  These are so quick and easy to make.  I promise you will have fun - give it a try!

My canvas was made using inks and a stencil and some bubble butterfly stamps.
